Schools, activities, pediatricians — for Brazilians arriving with family.
Types of school
International (British/IB/American/Montessori curriculum, tuition 40,000-90,000 baht/month): Prem, Lanna, Grace, NIS, ChrismatMC. Bilingual (Thai + English, 9,000-30,000 baht): APIS, CGA, Varee. Public Thai schools: free but in Thai, requires full adaptation and speaking the local language (Thai). Homeschooling: gained traction among Brazilians and foreigners in general, several active groups in Chiang Mai — Casa Brasil has a dedicated group in education, with a Brazilian pedagogue.
When to start looking
6 months before moving for top international schools (NIS, Prem). 3 months for other international and bilingual schools. Visit 3-5 before deciding — huge variation in curriculum, student profile, cost of uniform/materials/transport. Enrollment: test + interview, fee 5,000-15,000 baht.
English-speaking pediatricians
Dr. Sirintorn at Bangkok Hospital, Dr. Choei at Chiang Mai Ram, Dr. Suchada at Sriphat — three references who consult in English and treat expat families well. Consultation 800-1,500 baht. Keep vaccinations up to date: bring your Brazilian booklet (with English translation) so they can continue the schedule.
Keeping Portuguese alive
A box of children's books in Portuguese via Brazil-Thailand mail takes 30-45 days. Platforms like Lyfta, Plim Plim and PicPocket do a great job. Casa Brasil has a wide library of Portuguese books and organizes monthly reading circles (under /educacao). Speaking Portuguese at home is the strongest protector of fluency.
Parks and activities
Royal Park Rajapruek, Buak Hard Park (center), Huay Tung Tao (lake with restaurants). Trampoline Park, virtual Kidzania via shopping mall, swimming lessons at The Tube (Maya). Kids United and Wonder Kids have bilingual classes. Brazilian families almost always meet at Casa Brasil events — Gastronomy + Events.
